ACT Dragons Volleyball Club was established in November 2009 as a community based volleyball club that offers an opportunity for all ages to play volleyball at various levels, from elite to recreational, and all ages from juniors to masters. All this in a fun and supportive environment with an active social calendar.
The Club competes in Volleyball ACT (VACT) indoor competitions conducted between April and October year, the beach competitions are held between November and March. More information can be found at their website: www.volleyballact.com.au
We also offer support to teams in numerous weekend and single day tournaments throughout Australia. The club is affiliated with the University of Canberra and is involved with entering in the various University Games. The Dragons Volleyball Club has a level 3 accreditation under the “Good Sports” program, promoting a responsible attitude towards alcohol and we aim to provide a healthy, vibrant and family-friendly environment for our players, members and supporters. We have chosen to join over 6,500 clubs across Australia taking part in the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports program.
Volleyball competitions are played at the Lyneham Hockey Centre, across various nights of the week:
- Men’s Open Leagues are played on Monday nights
- Women’s Open Leagues being played on Tuesday nights, and
- Recreational (Social Mixed) Leagues are played on Thursday nights.
The highest level of volleyball competition in the ACT, the Capital Volleyball League (CVL), is played on Sundays. There are two levels in CVL, Premier and Reserve divsions for both men and women.
If you interested in playing it’s best to come along to one of our training sessions and give it a go, these sessions are open to everyone and we’ll help you find the right team at the appropriate competition level.
Our club values all our members and we host end of year functions to celebrate the successes of all our players, coaches and referees with annual awards and recognition.
